Glo Gains 6million New Customers, in 12 Months

Globacom has again topped the gainer’s chart by amassing over 6 million new customers in one year.

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) which disclosed this on Friday indicated that the total number of GSM subscribers increased by 7% year-on-year with 12,116,710 new subscribers, thereby moving to 185,742,016 in January, 2020, from 173,625,306 in January, 2019.

The commission’s report showed further that Globacom grossed the highest number of subscribers during the period, as it attracted 6.15 million new customers to its network making it to leap from 45,603,638 in January, 2019, to 51,755,561 in January, 2020.

According to the report, MTN is the nation’s largest mobile network operator with 38% market share, while Globacom remains the country’s second largest operator with 27.86 %. Airtel retained the third spot with 26.92% while 9mobile kept the fourth position with 7.08%.

All Channels on DStv will be Available to all Subscribers This Weekend

To promote DStv Now adoption, MultiChoice is making all of its DStv channels available online from Friday to Sunday.

TV channels currently only available to DStv Premium subscribers or higher users will be available to all DStv Compact Plus, DStv Compact, DStv Family and DStv Access subscribers.

DStv EasyView subscribers are not included in this limited promotion that will be taking place over three days from 13 March.

In order to watch any DStv channel they desire, subscribers will have to have access to the internet to live stream the channels on the DStv Now site or app (Apple or Google Play).

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Gets Android 10 Update

Xiaomi has begun releasing Android 10 updates for Mi A2 Lite device users. The update comes with version number 11.0.2.0.QLD MIX and has an Android security patch starting in February. The device was released on Android 8.1 (Oreo) but updated to Android 9.0 (Pie) in November 2018.

NCC Blocked 2.2 Million Improperly Registered Sim Cards

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has completely deactivated 2.2 million improperly registered Subscriber Identification Module, SIM cards across telecommunication networks nationwide.

According to NCC, “We have since initiated the second phase of SIM deactivation based on the ministerial directive and as at today, we have completely deactivated the remaining 2.2 million lines on the networks.

Huawei has introduced its new folding smartphone called the Mate Xs, a direct improvement over the previous generation of the X X.

The Mate Xs disassembles and on one side has a camera mount that can be used as a handle in the disassembled state. When the Mate Xs folds down, there's a 6.6 "19.5: 9 main screen, while the rear has a super high 25: 9 screen that you can use as a selfie viewfinder.

Huawei Mate Xs sports 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, and it is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 990 chipset.

The device is powered by a 55W fast-charging system which allows users to charge their phone from flat to 85% in 30 minutes.
