A new update is available for the beta version of WhatsApp, as the company has added some improvements to the Number Change feature that it plans to make available on Android, iOS platform applications. and Windows.

The Change Number feature allows you to change the phone number associated with your WhatsApp account on the same phone. Previously, your contacts would not be notified that you have changed your number (only members of the group), but thanks to this update, WhatsApp now lets your contact to have a new phone number you changed to.

If you change your WhatsApp number, it will transfer data from your old number to the new one, keeping your chat history and automatically add it to the groups you joined before the number changes; Group members will also be notified of your new number. Additionally, this latest update adds three new options that let you know all the contacts, contacts you have contacted or selected contacts to edit your number.

This is a very good step forward for the Change Number feature, as it saves users time and avoids the hassle that you must notify your contacts one after the other of your new number; From now on you can immediately notify them.

To access the new Change Number feature, go to WhatsApp Settings> Account> Change Number. Now touch the Next button on the upper right corner, enter the old and new phone numbers, touch the Next button again, and select the My Notifications link option.

Who you can Notify About Your Changed WhatsApp Number

1. Group members (default);
2. All your contacts;
3. Contacts you've chatted with;
4. Custom, i.e., particular contacts you select.

The update and feature has started rolling out to WhatsApp beta v2.18.97 which is up for download via Google Play store for Android. Hopefully, it'll be available for iOS and Windows phone users in a future date. In similar news, WhatsApp recently added the option to transfer money via QR codes, with Advanced GIF Search and Sticker Search features set to roll out soon, too.
