Zendaya totally slayed in Beyoncé’s visual album, Lemonade, but backstage, the 19-year-old was freaking out over meeting her musical idol. The singer, actress, and now shoe designer told InStyle about that otherworldly experience.
“It was literally nuts because anybody who knows me knows that I’ve been obsessed with Beyoncé since birth, been to every single concert that she’s ever had. It’s a true obsession. It was an honor and I freaked out,” she said about appearing in the video.
The “Formation” singer introduced herself to her new co-star backstage, and Zendaya said that she has never fangirled so much over a celeb. “When she came and said hi to me … I never lose it that much. I was such a nerd about it.”
It’s clear that this was an incredible experience for the teen, who will make her big screen debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming next year. When the video premiered earlier this year, Zendaya took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the album. “One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever had the honor of being apart of…Black. Girl. Magic,” she captioned this photo.
