MediaTek Announces Helio G80 Octa-Core SoC With HyperEngine Game Technology

The Taiwan chip seems to have announced MediaTek's Helio G80. This is the latest addition to the G Series and the successor to the G70 Series announced last month. Designed for budget and mid-range smartphones, the chip comes with MediaTek's HyperEngine gaming technology.

It integrates two ARM Cortex-A75 and Hexa Cortex-A55 processors in Mali - G52 2EEMC2 arm at speeds up to 950 MHz and is based on 12 nm FinFET TSMC technology. Similar to the G70, the G80 also lacks a dedicated APU, available for the Helio G90 series.

The MediaTek Helio G80 is expected to debut in budget smartphone later this month.
