The long-awaited functionality is here and I'm happy that all WhatsApp users already love it. WhatsApp's dark mode took a long time, the user gave up, but now it's finally introduced.
The latest update to WhatsApp for beta testers has been released and contains the most awaited feature, Dark Theme. It has been in operation for centuries, although we do not know why it has taken so long and is now available to users.
How to Locate Dark Theme in Recent WhatsApp Update
First of all, update your WhatsApp messenger to the latest version 2.20.13. If you have installed the update, the Dark Theme might be available for you: check out WhatsApp Settings > Chats!
You should see a section call Theme.
Here is what it means by Theme:
- Light theme: it’s the usual white theme that you have always used in these years.
- Dark theme: it’s the one that you wished to have in WhatsApp!
- System default: WhatsApp identifies the theme used by your Android system (if light or dark), and sets it in WhatsApp automatically. It’s useful if you use the latest Android version (Android Q) that supports the Dark theme system-wide.
- Set by Battery Saver: available on Android 9 and lower versions, allows to automatically switch to light/dark theme, according to your Battery Saver settings.
Select Dark Theme, and it will automatically change your theme to dark colors background and your chats will also maintain the dark theme colors.
Like in my case, the chats appear with beautiful dark and green bubbles. The update is designed to reduce screen glare by replacing the light-colored background and message bubbles with darker colors.
Dark mode makes it easier to view messages in low light conditions, while also preventing the app from draining as much battery.
