Incase we don't know who Samuel Okwaraji is? Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji (19 May 1964 – 12 August 1989) was born on 19 May 1964 in Orlu, Imo State, Nigeria. Okwaraji was a professional footballer who played internationally for Nigeria. He was also a qualified lawyer who had a masters in international law from the University of Rome. He collapsed and died of congestive heart failure in the 77th minute of a World Cup qualification match against Angola at the Lagos National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos State on 12 August 1989.
Since 12 August 1989, it seems like Nigerian government have forgotten him and his family for good. Emmanuel Okwuluora Okoh Onyeka (Goodman), the founder of Goodman Youth Network (GYN) picks this as a task to make sure that justice must be done.
According to him, he visited the family of Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji on 2nd of may 2018 at Enugu State on a facebook live video where he showed his senior brother Okwaraji Patrick. He also said that the family of Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji made mention of been abandoned by the Nigerian government without any recognition including the womb that gave birth to the iconic legend have been suffering for years.

This is the womb that carried & gave birth to SAMUEL SOCHUKWUMA OKWARAJI~ She deserve love & attention but that never happen~ She should get accolade & assurance but no way~ Imo State honoured Nina, Miracle, Bam & Teddy A. Please share and remind Rochas Okorocha that Sam Okwaraji is also from Imo State.
Nigerian Youth visited HOME of Late Nigerian football player SAMUEL SOCHUKWUMA OKWARAJI. The Imo State born died playing for Nigeria against Angola in August of 1989. According to his family- NIGERIAN government abandoned them. Please share let's try get JUSTICE.
If the authorities of Imo State can come out and honour Miracle and Nina for going to Bigbrother Naija~ What do you think they should do for Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji who bought air ticket himself to play for Nigeria and died in the process~ Nothing has been done to respect him till date~ Justice for the most patriotic Nigerian ever.

2. I will go to streets of Onitsha, Awka, Aba, Owerri, Enugu & Ph~ask and remind people about Sochukwuma.
3. I will go to Imo and Enugu House of Assemblies and send a message.
4. I will go to Imo and Enugu State government houses and cry for recognition.
5. I will hire a media team to his home in Enugu to his grave in Imo State~Documentary.

History of SAMUEL OKWARAJI

Career
Okwaraji had a career in Europe which included playing for AS Roma (1984-1985), NK Dinamo Zagreb (1985-1986), Austria Klagenfurt (1986-1987), VfB Stuttgart (1987-1989) and SSV Ulm 1846 (loan) (1987-1988) while finishing his education in law. In his short stay with Dinamo Zagreb, Samuel scored 3 goals in a friendly game vs NK Budućnost Hodošan. The game was played on 30 April 1986, and Dinamo Zagreb won 12-0. Samuel's only official game for Dinamo in the Yugoslav First League was as a substitute on 18 May 1986 against FK Priština. The game was played at Maksimir stadium in Zagreb, the 29th round of 1985/86 season. Dinamo Zagreb won 4:3.
International career
He made the Green Eagles squad in 1988 and at that year's African Nations Cup he scored one of the fastest goals in the history of the championship against the Indomitable Lions Of Cameroon. He played along until the final match, where the Eagles lost to their perennial rivals Cameroon by a lone goal.
Last game and death
Okwaraji collapsed ten minutes from the end of a 1990 World Cup qualifier against Angola in Lagos and died from congestive heart failure. An autopsy showed that the 25-year-old had an enlarged heart and high blood pressure. The sudden death was similar to that of Marc-Vivien Foé 14 years later. (Wikipedia)
I am thrilled that something like this can actually happen. Indeed! Young Nigerians are beginning to realize the many importance that’s attached to them in the development of our dear State, Nigeria. To the young man taking on this movement to remember Samuel Okwaraji, I salute your courage.
