All online services, including Google, encourage users to set up two-step verification, also known as Two-Factor authentication; because it enhances the protection of your account and your data. With this you must enter a password and authentication code to be sent to your mobile device. So, someone trying to get into your account will find it difficult to find.
However, Google Authenticator can be frustrating when it displays wrong codes. The common cause of these "bad code" errors can be associated with the time the Google Authenticator application is not syncing properly. Follow the instructions below to resolve this issue:
How to Fix Two-Factor Authenticator Incorrect Codes
On Android
- Go to the Google Authenticator main menu and choose Settings
- Select Time Correction for Codes and click Sync now.
You will receive a certificate confirming that the time is synchronized. You can now sign in using the verification code.
On iOS (Apple iPhone)
- Go to the iPhone settings application and select General
- Touch Date and time and activate Settings automatically
- If it's already on, turn it off, wait a few seconds, and then enable it again.
