The former Yemen leader was killed while allegedly attempting to escape from the country a few days after the end of the alliance with the Houthi rebels.
But Abdullah Saleh has led the country for more than three decades until the beginning of the Arab Spring in 2011.
Masirah TV led by Houthis reported that he was killed on Monday, and the news was confirmed by the internationally recognized Yemen government.
The video that broadcasts Houthis shows the body of Mr. Saleha, wrapped in a blanket and located on the back of the van, while people sing "God Is Good".
Sources from Houthi said the rebels stopped Mr. Saleha's armored vehicle with the RPG missile and then killed him.
Meanwhile, Houthis chief Abdel-Rahman al-Ahnomi confirmed that the former leader died near Marib on the border with Saudi Arabia.
He said, "He was trying to escape to Arabia."
Ali Abdullah Saleh's Party officials said they were killed outside Sanae.
Saleh announced the end of his alliance with Iran-backed Houthis, causing revenge warnings.
He joined ranks of his former enemies in 2014 to expel the Saudi government from the capital.
