The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, the organizer of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, banned the use of hand watches and pencils during the 2018 test.

Colleagues from Is'haq Oloy's board released information to journalists at the edge of the awareness-raising workshop for the owners of computer testing centers on Wednesday in Lagos.

According to him, the workshop was to evaluate the registration and conduct of the 2017 exam.

"Today we are doing this here by assessing the recording and completion of our final exam and learning some lessons from our experience.
"To this end, we have introduced some measures that will contribute to the integrity of the registration process, as well as the actual implementation of the review.
"For example, during the last test, we found that some electronic devices, such as pens, wristwatches, and other devices, were used for test errors.
"So for the next year we will forbid the use of hand watches and pencils of candidates and other people in the study room.
"We will also introduce detection devices to ensure that those who want to cheat in the study room are frustrated because we will go to the communication network hubs," he said.

Oloyede noted that the sale of the registration document for UTME 2018 would begin before the end of November.

"We plan to meet all interested parties on November 15, and the sale of the registration document will surely begin before the end of the month.
"But before that, we expect the candidates to download our application, visit our website and download the program and brochure so they can study this process.
"It's about minimizing errors that usually occur during the registration process," he said.
The head of JAMB added that at least 617 centers were nationally accredited for this exercise.

"We still consider about 60 more centers than their pending applications.
"However, a total of 72 centers across the country have already been canceled for participating in certain offenses and they are still being rejected."
