The Senate on Wednesday called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to urgently mobilize resources and materials to rehabilitate several communities in Benue State recently hit by a devastating windstorm that destroyed hundreds of buildings and left many residents homeless.
The upper house during the plenary session also asked the relevant government agencies to support the reconstruction of all affected public buildings, while inviting the relevant government agencies to visit the Senate district of Benue to educate the population on measures to protect themselves and their families.
These resolutions followed the adoption of a proposal sponsored by Senator Abba Moro (Benue Sud), who expressed his grief at the scale of the lives, public and private property caused by the stormy wind that hit the communities of Ogbadibo and Okpokwu u.
