Xiaomi has been investing energy into further developing MIUI, its own Android skin, and presently, the organization is right now chipping away at MIUI Pure Mode.
MIUI Pure Mode is a discretionary component that helps clients in shielding themselves from malevolent applications. Because of the open idea of Android, clients can undoubtedly turn into a casualty of an assault through unfriendly applications says the organization.
It also explains that 40% of apps installed by MIUI users have never passed its security audit. Also, 10% have been recognized as potential risks. Pure Mode plans to address that by disabling sideloading of APKs by default and also background installation of apps, without the user’s consent and knowledge.
What this means is that once this feature is introduced, Xiaomi users will not be able to install apps from external sources. Also, it blocks any installation happening in the background without the consent of users.
However, users have a choice to enable this feature or disable it. Beta applications for Pure Mode are already being processed in China and test packages will be distributed starting September 6, at a rate of 1000 approved devices and beta testers per day for a total of 5 days.
For now, no word yet on when it will be rolled out to the public, but we await more information on this in the coming weeks.
