We saw HarmonyOS, Huawei’s operating system, last year. Since launch, we expect the operating system to reach its division for smartphones. It looks like we’ll see it as soon as the report says Huawei is currently working on a smartphone that will be released next year.

The rumor was brought by Richard Yu himself, the company’s CEO. According to him, the smartphone already uses the said operating system and will probably be on the market next year. It will hit the market with a host of new devices, including computers, tablets, smart handhelds and other IoT products.

There are reports that the first smartwatch running HarmonyOS is expected to debut at the end of this year. This will be followed by the company’s first phone with the in-house operating system, next year. This is not the first time we have heard rumors like this. Back in December 2019, there was a report of the company’s first smartphone running it’s own OS hitting the market as early as 2020.

Huawei’s own OS was introduced after the company was blacklisted by the US government during the trader war between the United State and the Chinese government. We have heard and seen a lot of buzz about the OS and we await what features will make it stand out against the likes of Android and iOS.
