ESET researchers alerted Android users to the list of 42 dangerous applications that contain adware. Researchers advise Android users to immediately remove apps from their smartphones. Apps previously available on the Google Play Store have 8 million downloads.

Lukas said the apps have their code hidden under a package name ‘com.google.xxx’. The apps are capable of impersonating apps like Facebook or Google when users attempt to find out what’s responsible for the adwares.
According to him;
This trick – posing as a part of a legitimate Google service – may help avoid scrutiny. Some detection mechanisms and sandboxes may whitelist such package names, in an effort to prevent wasting resources.
Lukas also noted that these apps have been reported to Google and that they have been deleted from Google Playstore. According to him, they were able to find the developer responsible for the adware apps but the name was not revealed. While the apps may have been deleted by Google, it is important that Android users check their smartphones and remove the apps immediately.
This is not the first time dangerous apps capable of stealing personal information has been deleted from Playstore. Last year in June, a total of about 98 Android Apps was found to have been affected with malware.
