Portable Eyewash Stations: Portable units can be installed where plumbing is not available and they can be moved around a work area depending on the need in your facility. There is flexibility with this type of eyewash. Portable units don’t require the use of the plumbing in the facility. They are self- contained units. Tank Style Self Contained Eyewash Stations: This type of eyewash station requires the use of tap water. However, the water is mixed with a preservative that reduces the probability of bacterial growth. The solution will expire after six months. Thus, this type of eyewash station requires maintenance checks twice a year. The eyewash unit must be cleaned as well as refilled according to the standards and instructions provided by the manufacturer.
Tank Style Self Contained Eyewash Stations with Sealed Cartridges: This type of eyewash station does not require the use of tap water and does not use any preservative to be mixed with the water. The sealing process is performed in a clean room and the process makes use of purified water. The cartridges used in this type of eyewash station can last up to 24 months.
