CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF BANKERS OF NIGERIA (CIBN) HONORS DR. (MRS) C. U. NJOKU, RECTOR FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC NEKEDE.

The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) held a Millennium Annual Dinner and Award Night Owerri, the heartland of eastern Nigeria on Saturday, 29th October, 2016. Popularly called the Bankers’ night, Dinner night in an annual event the essence of which is to unwind, relax and meet with friends.

In his welcome address, the national President/Chairman of council CIBN, Professor (deacon) Segun Ajibola, PhD., FCIB, stated emphatically that, traditionally on annual basis, the institute sets aside a day to recognize those who have supported the institute and those who have gone extra mile to touch humanity positively. 16 is mind boggling to note that CIBN honour is strictly bestowed on individuals who have honestly committed themselves to the course of the great institute in particular and the country in general.

The national president/ chairman reiterated that should be seen in a clarion call as the banking industry as a whole and the institute which was established in 1993, have the responsibility to determine excellence furtherance and maintenance of ethical standard in the banking industry. He further disclosed that of the sixteen (16) persons nominated for the prestigious CIBN award, three (3) persons came top out of these three (3); it might interest you to know that one (1) was a woman. This woman he described as a “Rocker, a woman of note who has done more than many men”. According to him, “what men can do women can do even much better”, a crowd puller she is indeed. He then congratulated the three (3) distinguished personalities who were found worthy to receive their award.

The cherry on the tree at the CIBN auspicious occasion of Dinner/Award night was the conferment of the awards on the three personalities slated for the award. The only woman found worthy of this highly coveted CIBN award among men, is a world acclaimed woman of the moment, a crowd puller, a golden fish that has no hiding place, an erudite scholar, an ambassador of peace, the happening woman, a woman who most people are itching to identify with, the first woman to hold the leadership of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri since the life of the institution. This is no other than the amiable/ outstanding Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, the polytechnic that leads and others follow if they can, Dr. (Mrs.) Cele U. Njoku with her tremendous achievement, the polytechnic now occupies number 1 position among other polytechnics.

It was a pulsating moment full of cheer and standing ovation when Dr. (Mrs.) C. U. Njoku was presented with the highly cherished CIBN award of Excellence in the full glare of all and sundry. Dr. (Mrs.) C. U. Njoku has broken the jinx that women Belong to the kitchen where they are not merely seen but also not heard. She has achieved a lot and made tremendous impact in education industry.
